A specific training
There were two objectives during this summer university: the first one was to work on the breed standards, which would be useful for our trainees who would have to evaluate the animals in their countries. The second one was to give them enough knowledge to improve their mating advices.
After adjusting our vocabulary and references for the scoring, we worked and evaluated different young animals, which have been selected through progenies from our range of bulls and also stock bulls. It was also an opportunity to compare our evaluation system and to check together the different post we are scoring and taking into account in our system while they don’t control all of them or with different scales.
Very hard working, all of our trainees have received a Sersia Award for their involvement during this training.
The summer party
This University ended on June 25th with the first edition of Fest’IA, a genetic and economic event dedicated to the Charolaise breed, organized by our Charolais supplier, the UCATRC.
Highlighting the advantages of the use of Artificial Insemination, the perfectly rhythmic progenies presentation in the central ring impressed our delegations.
By staking on interviews from various partners like Bovins Croissance, financial and accounting centers and producers’ groups, UCATRC highlight several figures obtained thanks to the genetic on the technical side and economic as well. For example, herds using bulls from AI studs, decrease the mortality at birth rate (-1 point) and increase the growth (in average, +11 kg of alive weight at weaning). These good technical performances have direct effects on the economic results of the farm. Indeed, criteria like productivity per Work Unit or per Hectares are really improved (P/WU: + 2 to 7% and P/Ha: + 9%). The farm profitability (Margin/ Cattle Unit), increase too : from 7 to 12% mainly thanks to a turnover per animal above 12%.
This day was also the occasion to have a look on very good daughters from bulls which will come out in the next proof release, like TOMBAPIK. Meanwhile, progenies from our well-known bulls from the Golden and Performance Ranges were there to illustrate their qualities, like NATUR, NECESSAIRE, NEWTON, PRINTEMPS, RUSS, RURAL, ROBUSTIN, SUMO and UTOPIQUE.
Face to our participants’ enthusiasm, joined by Irish people for this event, this day convinced our partners and breeders about the quality of our products and the coherence of the genetic promoted by SERSIA FRANCE.
